About Tiida Garden

Tiida Garden Owner Operator Shige was born on Okinawa Island, the only part of Japan offering a subtropical climate and where the sea air is fresh and life a lot simpler than in big cities. Spending his childhood in Kyoda Nago City, Shige helped his grandmother tend to her vegetable garden and sugarcane field in the countryside. This is where his love for gardening ignited.

In 2002, he came to New Zealand on a working holiday and fell in love with the laid back New Zealand lifestyle, while the Kiwis’ fondness for the outdoors and nature reminded him of home. He stayed and initially cultivated his other love – for human connection through customer service in the hospitality industry. Though he was working in full time employment, Shige never stopped gardening. On his days off you would have found him outside working in his own garden, be it in planting flowers, harvesting his vegetables, tidying or weeding.

In 2016, he decided to combine his two passions and established S&C Ventures Ltd, a lawn mowing and gardening franchise. The business quickly grew because he truly cares about his customers and will always provide excellent results and reasonable rates. In 2019, he established Tiida Garden, an independent company offering quality gardening services.

Shige believes what makes him stand out as a gardening operator is that through his work, the customer can clearly see his passion. He cares for his customers and he tends to every garden as though it is his own. Gardens are living organisms and very intuitive, and just like relationships with any living thing, it responds best to those who care and respect them.
